Communication and marketing internship COMPANY: Green IT Amsterdam DEPARTMENT: Communication and Marketing PERIOD: From April 2020 WEBSITE: www.greenitamsterdam.nl FIELD OF STUDY: Communication, Marketing, Media Introduction We offer a challenging internship in the field of Communication and Events. The main mission is to create and lead our communication and marketing strategy, which will scale with our growth plans. The position would be at least 4 days a week for a period of 20 weeks. A graduation assignment is possible and highly encourage, we appreciate your own input here. The student will have the flexibility and independence to create a hands-on communication plan and be part of our content creation. From researching the value of communication tools, to various meetings with our consortium participants to understand their needs, and creating content on our different channels, the student will have a unique opportunity to be involved in a sector where innovation meets sustainability. Company description Green IT Amsterdam is a non-profit organization active in the topics of ICT, Energy and Sustainability. Founded by the city of Amsterdam in 2009, we share knowledge, expertise and ambitions for achieving sustainable targets with our public and private Green IT Leaders. The network now consists of 27 leading organizations (Green IT Leaders) on sustainable IT in various sectors including IT, engineering and energy. This network is complemented by establishing active alliances with other key partners from: 1. Regional public organizations for the facilitation of local implementation processes 2. National and international organizations for ensuring a level playing field 3. Networking organizations with expertise in specific application areas Our mission statement is: “Green IT Amsterdam Region makes the energy & sustainability transition possible using smart IT solutions for the Amsterdam region.” As our society is constantly relying more and more on IT, urgency for sustainability keeps increasing. Moreover, IT can play a key role in making the change from fossil energy into renewable energy, the energy of the future and for the future. Our mission is to scout, test and showcase innovative IT solutions for increasing energy efficiency and decreasing carbon emissions Description of tasks • Design and implement the communication plan to promote Green IT Amsterdam for various target groups; • Develop and lead communications strategy to drive awareness in our activities and values; • Create metrics to measure communication effectiveness, reach, and engagement; • Content creation, from a set of documents, prepare summary content easily readable by different audiences; • Create and post online content, you will also look for relevant content; • Create and edit the monthly newsletter; • Maintain and optimize the various social media channels; • Organize and supervise various activities for knowledge sharing (for example, seminars, workshops, matchmaking events, etc.); • Ongoing collaboration and communication with our Participants (organising meeting and minutes writing); • Any other activity that might be required. Description of supervision The intern will be paired with an expert supervisor. The student should be able to set up and conduct research independently. We are often on the move and working remotely. You need to be comfortable using tools designed for remote working such as videoconferencing, instant messaging, and collaborative tools. We offer the student a place to work at SURFsara (a participant of the consortium) with the possibility to use their flex offices. The meeting with the supervisor can also take place at EBC Amsterdam on the Keizersgracht. The monthly remuneration will be 400 euros. Monthly meetings will take place to assess the work and various tasks, answer any questions the student has and monitor the progress in the internship’s deliverables. Candidate requirements As a project manager intern at Green IT Amsterdam, we need you to be proactive, self-starter, comfortable with managing various activities in parallel and capable of working autonomously. In this role, you will be involved in a variety of initiatives aimed to connect stakeholders in multiple domains and sectors such as companies active in Smart Cities, Smart Grids, data center, research-oriented organizations and government institutions. These initiatives will take place both at the European level and Amsterdam Region level. For this internship, it is important that you have an academic background in topics related to our activities. You also recognize yourself in the following character traits: • Good communication skills; • Assertive: you initiate contacts with experts and you’re responsible for generating knowledge; • Independent: you have a great intrinsic motivation. While we are an English-speaking organisation, many of our local activities are discussed in Dutch. Knowledge of the Dutch language is therefore mandatory.
